OVERVIEW OF OPTIONS
The UK has committed to dramatically reduce carbon emissions to 35% by 2020 and ‘net-zero’ by 2050. In order to achieve its goals, the government has established a series of incentives for homes and businesses to install sustainable systems and, as a result, expect a significant return on investment.
The Renewable Design Company has a deep understanding of the incentives and can support your project to find the best opportunity. Our experts are able to provide the following services, but are more than happy to also have an informal and no-obligation initial discussion.
- Advise - determine which incentives or funding options will give you the biggest return, as well as provide advice on what you need and can expect from the application process
- Complete and submit funding applications
- Ongoing support - post-project to ensure your system remains compliant based on Ofgem's participant obligations and requirements
Outlined below are the most relevant UK government incentives for ground source, air source and water source heat pump installations. All government schemes (including domestic and non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive) have very separate tariffs, joining conditions, rules and application processes, therefore it’s important you speak to our team to benefit from the most suitable option.
Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
Suitable for homes on and off the gas grid. Eligibility includes homeowners, private landlords and social landlords. Participants are paid every three months over a period of seven years, based on a set tariff and level of energy generated from the heat pump system. Suitable for businesses, the public sector and non-profit organisations. Participants are paid every three months over a period of 20 years, based on a set tariff and level of energy generated from the heat pump system. Click here to read more about the Non-domestic RHI and how The Renewable Design Company can help. Alternatively, you can visit the Ofgem site for further information.
Want help with the upfront cost of the installation?
The cost to install a heat pump can vary depending on the goals and size of the project. If this upfront cost is a barrier for your business or home benefiting from a heat pump solution, you may be eligible for system funding with Rendesco, the sister company of The Renewable Design Company.
Rendesco offers an independent scheme which funds the installation of the heat pump, in exchange for the RHI payment. Contact us today to discuss this option.
